On this page, you will find all of the important resources and deadlines for the Academy Internship.  Please contact Ms. Papera (x 5718 or room 3213) if you have any questions.  If you want more information about our program, please review the Academy Notebook located in the "Resources for Students" folder in the Academy Locker (lower right).

 

 

Clarification of roles

Because there are a number of people you may want to invite to your senior presentation, here is a reminder of the different individuals who have helped you through the academy process.

Intern Coordinator: Ms. Papera will monitor your progress throughout the school year. 

Internship Sponsor:  This is the businessperson with whom you worked during your internship. You should formally invite him/her to attend your presentation, although his/her schedule may not permit him/her to attend.

Academy Advisor: The faculty member who helped you with your research paper and senior presentation. Your advisor has, in most cases, already been assigned to your presentation.

Family and Friends: Feel free to invite family members and friends to observe your presentation and provide moral support.

1st Semester Deadlines (Seniors)

12 September: Mandatory Fall Meeting at lunch or after school in room 3101

26 September: Choose CHS faculty advisor

6 October:  20 hours of time logs, first journal, and 10 hour sponsor evaluation due

21 November: Submit first draft of research paper to advisor and turnitin.com; end of second grading period 

9 December: Peer review due to turnitin.com

19 December: Final draft of research paper due to your faculty advisor

9 January: Final draft of research paper due to turnitin.com 

16 January: All first semester academy work due 

2nd Semester Deadlines (Seniors)

30 January: Mandatory Spring semester meeting at lunch or after school in room 3101

11 March: Senior Multimedia Presentations

14 March: End of 1st grading period (See notebook.)

1 April: Pashby scholarship applications due

2 May:  End of 2nd grading period  (See notebook,)

30 May:  All work must be submitted to intern coordinator. 

 

2nd Semester Deadlines (Juniors)

February (TBD) : Resume & cover letter workshop at lunch or after school in room 3101

February (TBD) : Resume and cover letter due to your coordinator

March (TBD): Final deadline for late cover letters and resumes.  If they are not received by this time, you will be dropped from the program.

March (TBD): Interview skills workshop; return resumes and cover letters; lunch or after school in room 3101

March 11th (After School): Senior Multimedia Presentations (Juniors observe)

April (TBD):  Mock Interviews during period 4 in the library  (Due date will be assigned.)

May (TBD): Parent meeting--2:40 or 7:00 in CHS library (Parents of Juniors)
