Application for Academy Intern Program

Each November the Intern Coordinators visit US History classrooms to inform juniors about the Intern Academy. After the presentation, students may apply by completing the application below and submitting three letter of recommendation forms to their teachers.

Ms. Papera (Room 3213) 

Clarification of roles

Because there are a number of people you may want to invite to your senior presentation, here is a reminder of the different individuals who have helped you through the academy process.

Intern Coordinator: Either Mr. Brandmeyer or Ms. Papera, one of whom is monitoring your progress throughout the school year. You  do not need to invite your coordinator to your presentation.

Internship Sponsor:  This is the businessperson with whom you worked during your internship. You should formally invite him/her to attend your presentation, although his/her schedule may not permit him/her to attend.

Academy Advisor: The faculty member who helped you with your research paper and senior presentation. Your advisor has, in most cases, already been assigned to your presentation.

Family and Friends: Feel free to invite family members and friends to observe your presentation and provide moral support.

1st Semester Deadlines (Seniors)

4 September: Mandatory Fall Meeting at lunch or after school in room 3101

18 September: Choose CHS faculty advisor

10 October:  20 hours of time logs, first journal, and 10 hour sponsor evaluation due

21 November: Submit first draft of research paper to advisor; end of second grading period 

19 December: Final draft of research paper due to your faculty advisor

14 January: Final draft of research paper (with research checklist) due to coordinator

16 January: All first semester academy work due (see notebook) 

 

1st Semester Deadlines (Juniors)

5 December:  Junior applications and teacher recommendations due

16 January: Welcome meeting for new interns

2nd Semester Deadlines (Seniors)

30 January: Mandatory Spring semester meeting at lunch or after school in room 3101

14 March: End of 1st grading period (See notebook.)

27 March: Senior Multimedia Presentations

1 April: Pashby scholarship applications due

2 May:  End of 2nd grading period  (See notebook,)

30 May:  All work must be submitted to intern coordinator. 

 

2nd Semester Deadlines (Juniors)

11 February: Resume & cover letter workshop at lunch or after school in room 3101

24 February: Resume and cover letter due to your coordinator

3 March: Final deadline for late cover letters and resumes.  If they are not received by this time, you will be dropped from the program.

13 March: Interview skills workshop; return resumes and cover letters; lunch or after school in room 3101

27 March: Senior Multimedia Presentations (Juniors observe)

April:  Mock Interviews during period 4 in the library  (Due date will be assigned.)

1 May: Parent meeting--2:40 or 7:00 in CHS library (Parents of Juniors)
