2014 Senior Intern Presentations

In March 2014 interns will be doing presentations sharing their experiences.  Look for more information as spring approaches.

Application for Academy Intern Program

Each November the Intern Coordinators visit US History classrooms to inform juniors about the Intern Academy. After the presentation, students may apply by completing the application below and submitting 3 letter of recommendation forms to their teachers.

Application for Academy Intern Program

Due date will be toward the end of November/beginning of December.

Application essays may turned in to:   Ms. DeCino--room 2007, Ms. Penrod--Room 3202.  You may also turn them in to the gray mailbox next to the academy office door downstairs in the library.

Welcome to the Intern Academy

Here you will find all of the important information and due dates for the Intern Academy.  Please contact your specific coordinator if you have questions.  You are assigned to a coordinator alphabetically according to your last name as follows:

Penrod:  A - Ki (760-331-5112)

DeCino:  Kl - Z (760-331-5787)

If you want more information about our program, please review the Academy Notebook in the locker on the lower right.  If you missed the Academy presentation in your U.S. History class, you can view the PowerPoint in the locker as well.  The application for the Academy program is also in the locker.  Applications are due by Friday, December 7, 2012.

Scholarship opportunity:  One of our first Academy interns, Jeff Pashby, offers a $1000 scholarship to a graduating intern planning on attending a 4-year college.  Applications are due by April 1, 2013 in room 2007.  See the locker for the form.

Clarification of roles

Because there are a number of people you may want to invite to your senior presentation, here is a reminder of the different individuals who have helped you through the academy process.

Intern Coordinator -  Either Ms. DeCino or Ms. Penrod, one of whom is monitoring your progress throughout the school year. You  do not need to invite your coordinator to your presentation.

Internship Sponsor -  This is the businessperson with whom you worked during your internship. You should formally invite him/her to attend your presentation, although his/her schedule may not permit him/her to attend.

Academy Advisor -  The faculty member who helped you with your research paper and senior presentation. Your advisor has, in most cases, already been assigned to your presentation.

Family and Friends - Feel free to invite family members and friends to observe your presentation and provide moral support .

Intern Sponsors

Under the links below are organizations, businesses and individuals who have acted as past and/or current sponsors.  Each year their ability to help again depends upon multiple factors.  We greatly appreciate their help in making our program a success and hope they continue to work with us in the future.  Click on the career area to see a listing of sponsors in that area.
